In a world where supernaturals and slavery have not only existed since the beginning of time, but actually thrived, the government had to come up with a way to make everyone equal. Thus, the Placement Test was created. The test is supposed to determine if an individual can survive on their own or if they need someone to take care of them. Of course, not everyone agrees with that (or the results of the test), but everyone tolerates it, knowing that fighting against it will do no good. In fact, any kind of rebellion or other such things will cause those people to be enslaved or killed outright and unable to cause any more problems. That's not to say people can't speak their minds, but most people keep quiet about their feelings to keep the authorities from suspecting them of rebellion and taking action. However, anyone who passes the test and becomes part of the "upper class" are free and may choose to own slaves or not. The "middle class" are slaves to be bought and sold by those free people, but they must be kept healthy and under control. The "lower class" are the laborers and donors who are unable to read or write at a high enough level or fail the Placement Test and instead belong to the government. All middle and lower class citizens (except anyone who was put in that class by the government) may retake the Placement Test once every five years (their owner has to allow them to take it, but they can choose not to take it until they want to any time after those 5 years) to try to move to a higher class, but they only have three retries.
With supernatural species being a part of society, it is no surprise to find that technology is fairly advanced. While technology is a scientific thing, there's also magic in the world that different species possess. One magic not bound to any species brought a new species to the world, the Kitsune. The Kitsune were servants to the Gods before the Gods disappeared from the Earth many years ago, and then the Kitsune were put to sleep by the Order of the Rose. Someone is waking up the Kitsune, however, and the Order is not happy about it. While a war is not possible because of the government, the Order will not stop with their "calling" of ridding the world of the Kitsune, and perhaps other species as well. The Order is not the only group who has problems with others as many species do not like one another.
Will your character own slaves, be a civilian, a slave, belong to the Order? What will the Kitsune and the Order bring to the world, and how will it affect everyone else?
