Appearance
A tall, lanky dog with a lean body built for endurance, Silas is the kind of dog that can run forever. He has solidly build, graceful limbs, a surprisingly broad chest for a dog of his type, and a almost rectangular head with sharp features. His face is kind and very expressive, with round hazel eyes and a heavy brow. Silas also has a tendency of involuntarily mirroring the expression of others around him. His fur is thick, and though wiry looking, is rather soft and creamy-colored, fading into a darker grey-brown on the bottom of his paws, ears, and "beard" around his muzzle. Silas's camouflage is rather limited because of this, making him, as a lone dog, susceptible to being attacked by the more aggressive predators on the isle such as wild cats or bears.
Personality
Curious. If anyone that knew him had to describe Silas in one word, it would be curious. His paws itching with the ever-growing desire to travel and learn new things, it is doubtful Silas will ever settle down in one place. This laid-back dog is always exploring, and learning what he can about the island he lives on. Intuitive and thouhgtful, the large dog easily picks up on the feelings and body language of other animals. Though Silas is rather laid-back, he refuses to be told what to do, to the point of being overly stubborn. More than anything else, he hates being lorded over by other dogs and told what to do. He wants to be in charge of himself, thank you very much.
Nor this does not mean Silas is a leader type. In fact, he is quite the opposite. The idea itself of having that pressure on his shoulders is enough to send him into a panic! Silas is as non-committal as they come, and that often gets in the way of any sort of lasting relationships with other dogs. He'll be there one day, and gone the next. It's kind of hard to have a lasting friendship with a dog like that.
History
Silas came from a small family-group of dogs on the (western? correct me if I'm wrong) part of the island. Born and raised in Calidum, the land of warmth, Silas's early life was peaceful. As a puppy, he played with his two siblings in the lush ferns of the red pine forest, learning every twist and turn of, well, at least their side of the expansive forest. Alas, seasons passed and things changed. The litter of three pups grew older, and despite their former closeness, grew apart. First, his oldest sister left, chasing after some other youngster from in the heart of aliquanto. His parents were expecting their second litter of pups, and needed as much extra prey as possible.
That was when Silas started to stray further and further from his warm home. His returns to his puppyhood home became less frequent as the years passed, only becoming more common as his parents aged and their youngest litter left. When his parents passed away, his ramblings began to stretch to the far edges of the islands. He hasn't been to the redwoods since, and has pretty much been wandering around aimlessly for the past few months. Silas isn't quite sure what to do with himself.
